Efebé participates in the 11th ACP Conference of ACRA to promote the humanization of care homes

On 21 May, Efebé attended the 11th Person-Centred Care (ACP) Conference by ACRA, held at the World Trade Center Barcelona, a reference event for the care sector that brought together more than 400 professionals from the dependent-care field under the theme “Ageing, facing it through innovation”.

For us, taking part in this conference was an opportunity to keep sharing knowledge, listen to the sector’s real needs, and reinforce our commitment to humanizing care homes, an aspect that is increasingly relevant to the quality of life of elderly people.

A space to share experience and build new connections

During the conference, Efebé took part with a stand at the new Marketplace area, a meeting point for companies, professionals and organizations in the care sector designed to foster networking and create new synergies.

This space allowed us to talk with professionals, care home directors and care teams about the sector’s main current challenges: adapting spaces, new care models, and the need to create friendlier, more functional, person-centred environments.

In a context of transformation of the care model, space design can no longer be understood purely from an aesthetic or functional point of view. Care homes increasingly need environments that foster emotional wellbeing, autonomy and a sense of home. And this is where humanizing care homes takes centre stage.

Natàlia Gómez: “Spaces care too”

One of the highlights of the conference was the interview with Natàlia Gómez, project manager and interior designer specializing in care homes at Efebé, who shared our vision on how space design can help improve the quality of life of the people who use these spaces.

During the conversation, Natàlia focused on the importance of designing spaces that help generate comfort, orientation, autonomy and emotional wellbeing.

“Humanizing a care home means understanding that spaces care too. Design has a direct impact on how people live, feel and interact,” she explained.

At Efebé we approach projects from a global perspective, integrating interior design, functionality and user experience to create spaces adapted to the real needs of care centres and the people who live in them.

Innovation and person-centred care: where is the sector heading?

The ACRA conference raised some of the major future challenges facing dependent care: incorporating technology applied to care, more flexible new organizational models, and person-centred care that prioritizes each resident’s individuality and quality of life.

This evolution of the sector reinforces an idea we fully share at Efebé: spaces play a key role in how care is delivered.
