On 16 October, the Efebé showroom hosted a very special activity within Barcelona Design Week 2025.
The conference brought together professionals from design, architecture and facility management to reflect on acoustic design and its role in the creation of healthy, functional and comfortable spaces.
Noise, an increasingly present challenge
According to the World Health Organization, noise is one of the main environmental factors affecting health.
It can generate stress, mental fatigue and difficulty concentrating.
For this reason, acoustic design has become a key tool to improve comfort and well-being in offices, schools and residences.
At Efebé, we have been working for more than 25 years to create healthy spaces that combine aesthetics, sustainability and functionality.
Three voices to understand acoustic comfort
During the session, three professionals from Efebé shared real knowledge and experiences.
-
Aina Valls, head of marketing, presented the conference and highlighted the importance of acoustics in the integral design of spaces.
-
Adriana Villaverde, an architect specialising in schools, showed success stories where acoustic solutions have been applied to reduce noise and improve concentration. He spoke, for example, about the Aula FluAp in La Salle Santa Coloma, the dining room of Escolàpies Sant Martí and the Escola Pia in Sarrià.
-
Natàlia Gómez, designer and expert in office equipment, presented the latest acoustic trends in the labour sector, such as Mute Design’s modular acoustic booths .
These solutions, initially designed for offices, are becoming increasingly useful in other areas, such as school libraries or shared concentration spaces.
Insulate, soundproof, and reduce reverberation
Acoustic design is not just about eliminating noise.
The aim is to manage it intelligently to improve the sound quality of the space.
For this reason, three basic concepts were explained during the conference:
👉 Insulate, to prevent noise from passing from one space to another.
👉 Soundproof, to control internal noise sources.
👉 Reduce reverberation, to achieve better sound clarity.
Attendees were able to see and touch real samples of acoustic materials, such as sound-absorbing panels, textile coatings and wooden structures with sound properties.
Offices, a driver of acoustic innovation
The offices are currently a laboratory for acoustic innovation.
This sector leads trends that then reach other areas, such as education or residential care.
In fact, solutions such as acoustic booths or modular panels are rapidly adapting to the needs of schools.
Thus, spaces such as libraries or multipurpose classrooms can offer more comfortable and private areas of concentration.
One more step towards healthier spaces
In summary, Efebé’s participation in Barcelona Design Week 2025 showed that acoustic design is essential to improve health and well-being in any environment.
Acoustics is no longer just a technical issue: it is an emotional design tool that directly influences people’s productivity and quality of life.
At Efebé we will continue working to create sustainable, functional and healthy spaces that respond to the needs of the present and the future.
